The Spanish leather company Piel Frama introduced the new luxury Magnetic case for the Apple iPad. The handmade leather case is crafted from the finest leather and is precisely designed with all the openings and cut-outs exactly where they should be. It comes in a variety of colors along with a crocodile and ostrich texture. In my opinion this is the finest iPad case available for the iPad to date. It provides great protection along with luxury styling allowing you to protect your iPad without jeopardizing the great styling that Apple intended. Piel Frama also offers the finest leather cases for the iPhone. Remember don’t put your beautiful designed Apple product in a big ugly case.

- Magnets system closure.
- Sync through travel cable.
- 1 document compartment.
- Soft Leather Lining.
- 1 Leather Chamois.
- ABS inserted protection.

I received my Piel Frama customized leather case today for my iPhone 3Gs, this case is Awesome!!. The quality is like I have never seen on a case before. For starters, when I ordered the case, it said it would take 25 days to complete. As I was waiting painfully patient, I received an email on Friday evening about 6 days earlier that I expected from Angelica with the tracking number, saying my case was complete and being shipped out. I received my case on Monday morning by 9am, now thats what I call service. The Piel Frama customer service is second to none, and the finished product is even better than that. When I opened the case I was curious to see how the “real life” colors matched what I saw on my computer screen. I was pleased to see it was exactly what I expected, the color of the real case is a direct match to the color on the screen. At least for the “Brasa” which was the color I ordered. The stitching is firm and tight, with no loose threads or frays of any kind. The leather is buttery soft and the iPhone slides in real snug, with all the essential openings lining up very precise. The Leather flip style cases happen to by my style of choice for my iPhone. I have had that style of case from the top case makers in the industry ranging from Vaja, Sena, Orbino, and Beyza. There is honestly no comparison in the quality of leather, design, and craftmanship to that of the Piel Frama. This is my case of choice and I will be ordering a leather Piel Frama case for my iPad soon. I am just a satisfied customer that wants to spread the word about a great product when I come across one.

As any iPhone owner knows, it is easy to get addicted to this little piece of technology. Just as iPhone owners love their iPhones, they equally love the case it’s in. It’s a way to dress it up, customize it, as well as protect it. It’s kind of a status symbol to express who you are. Here is a rundown on the types of cases I reviewed and my take on them.

Hard Shell, Form Fit Cases

1) SGP Ultra Thin

The Ultra Thin case is just a back cover for the iPhone 3G/3Gs. It will do a great job at protecting the scuffs. The outside of the SGP Ultra Thin case is a hard plastic material that didn’t scratch after five days of use. The inside of the case is a smooth plastic that did not scratch or mark up my phone in anyway. The Ultra Thin case is designed to come “up to” the chrome bezel and not cover it or protect it at all. The SGP Ultra Thin is the type of case for someone looking for minimal bulk, while protecting the back from scratches. I do not recommend this case to anyone that wants to protect their iPhone from drops, bumps, etc. This case feels good in the hand, it feels like there is not a case on the iPhone at all. The SGP Ultra Thin is a decent case for what it was intended for.

2) Griffin Elan Form Chrome

The Elan Form Chrome by Griffin is a slider style case that merges the appeal of leather with the protection of hard polycarbonite plastic. Slightly less than perfect molded chrome accents on the face, sides, top, bottom and back. Just like the regular Elan Form from Griffin, you can slide the bottom off for connection to the Apple iPhone 3G/3Gs dock and any other compatible third party docking system. A screen protector and a micro fiber cleaning cloth is included. My overall impression with this case after about two weeks of using it is not that good. For starters the case looks awesome, it has the look in between a naked iPhone with the chrome accents and the Blackberry Bold with the leather back.
Aside from the good looks, the Elan Form Chrome scratched the bezel at the top and bottom of the iPhone. The bottom of this case eventually got terribly loose and would start to slide off throughout the day. It never actually fell completely off, but it was not as snug as I would have liked it to be. Along with the bottom piece loosening up, the sides of the case got real “squeaky” and was beginning to feel and sound cheap. This is just my opinion of this case but it gets a thumbs down on quality.

3) Otterbox Defender Series

For most people, the iPhone was a pricey investment. At 300$ it is not a cheap phone so you want to protect it.
The first thing I noticed about the Otterbox Defender case was that it was the most rugged looking case for the iPhone that I have ever seen. The case comes docked in a belt clip in which the Otterbox did not make the clip a permanent part of the phone. This is a plus in my opinion, I have seen so many nice cases ruined because the belt clip is part of the case, not having a separate holder.
The Otterbox Defender is actually a 2 part case, it has a hard plastic inner shell with a soft rubber shell that fits like a glove over the plastic shell. This gives you the best of both worlds, a nice soft feel with a very protective shell. This case provides a lot of shock protection but is still not waterproof. The defender will protect against dust, sand, and light precipitation.
At the bottom the rubber pulls up for the connector and at the top the rubber pulls up above the headphone jack. Also on the top and left side you have extruding buttons for power and speaker volume.
On the back of the case there is a small clear window for the camera and Otterbox was nice enough to make another larger window to expose the Apple logo for some added style. The screen is covered by a thin layer of plastic which I actually removed with an exacto knife due to the watermark effect that was caused on the screen. My overall opinion of this case is 2 thumbs up, I highly recommend this case to anyone looking for ultimate drop protection for their iPhone. The only downside about this case is that you lose the sleek look and feel of the original designed iPhone. But one will have to weigh their options when deciding on a case.

4) Incase Slider

The Incase Slider case is the best hard shell form fitting cases on the market today. It is a 2 piece hard plastic shell that fits nice and snug on the iPhone. The iPhone slides into the top piece gliding in on 2 rubber rails to prevent scratching. After the iPhone is in the top part of the case the bottom slides on which also has 2 rubber rails. The case locks in real tight and the iPhone has no movement in the case at all. It has openings for all the functions of the iPhone and all the cutouts are perfect and inline. The Incase Slider offers very good drop protection and lay on the table design all while adding only 1mm of thickness to the naked iPhone. The Incase Slider get 2 thumbs up for protection, style and design.

The iPhone Addict highly recommends the Piel Frama leather flip style case for the iPhone 3G/3Gs. My iPhone 3Gs took a big fall from my waist to the concrete today, and might I add, I was on a ladder about 10 feet up. When it hit, I just knew I was going to find a broken iPhone or at least damaged extensively. I made my way down, walked over to it and inspected it. WHAT!!! NO DAMAGE to the Iphone at all, no cracked screen, not even chipped paint/plastic on the back cover. The extent of the damage was a little scuffed leather on the bottom corner of the case, (pic below). I’ve always loved Piel Frama cases for their craftmanship, luxury look and feel, and even the leather smell when new is amazing. Now I’m sold on the protection it has on the iPhone. To be honest, I don’t know how my iPhone did not get damaged in any way or even how this style case protected it from such a blunt fall as it took, but the fact is….it protected it.

It’s March and all that cool stuff you saw at CES and Macworld Expo is finally beginning to hit the shelves. Specifically, a new product from Case-Mate, which was previewed back in January, is now shipping. For those who don’t remember, Hug is a wireless induction charger that allows you to attach a case to your iPhone 3G or 3GS, then place the handset on a charging platter. You can grab it now from Case-Mate’s website for $99.99. Watch the video below.

10. Vaja i-Volution Top SP Holster
$80+

If you already think your iPhone is too big, and want to keep it slim, the Vaja i-Volution Top SP may be the case for you. The leather case protects your phone’s screen with a layer of ABS thermoplastic. With the flip-case opened, you have access to all of the iPhone’s features, including the headphone jack, SIM card and vibrate slider. The speakers and camera lens are also exposed. The i-Volution Top SP Holster starts at $80 and is available in a range of styles and colors.

9. DRO Concepts’ Carbon Fiber iPhone 3G Case
$92.99
This carbon fiber case is an improvement on a similar case by the now-defunct Belch Co. (can’t see why they went out of business). This handcrafted case features four layers of carbon fiber with a scratch-resistant gloss finish and a neoprene lining. It even has a removable bottom so you can dock it without the hassle of removing the whole case.

8. Miniot iWood
$95
Where can you find a sophisticated, almost antique appearance wrapped up with a name that would make any horny teenager—and many adults—snicker with very unsophisticated glee? Try the iWood case. It’s… well… it’s iWood.

7. Orbino Tuscan Leather Tasca Case
$119
Tuscan leather handstitched with premium waxed thread at Centro Stile Orbino in Italy makes this flap-top case a unique commodity. The Tasca case is hand lacquered, as well, with four coats of black, brown, tan or red lacquer. The leather lining provides a snug fit for your iPhone 3G or 3GS.

6. Swarovski Wildcat
$299.99
Featuring Swarovski crystals arranged by hand in a leopard-spot pattern, each of these luxury iPhone cases is completely unique. The easily snapped-on case is supposed to be as protective as it is aesthetically pleasing, but Ultra Case doesn’t list the materials used to create the “crystal hard case.”

5. Orbino Strada
up to $319
There are other iPhone cases out there made of the “finest” Italian leather, but what makes the Strada unique is its patented belt clip/pedestal. Not only is this belt clip removable, it’s also made of palladium metal and it can even be used to prop up your iPhone so you can watch videos at your desk. After all, you probably don’t have any other viewing apparatus there. The Strada also features a screen protector and connector access. Oh, it’s also hand-stitched. That automatically makes it at least twice as good. The Strada starts at $99, but you can pay more to get one made from one of a variety of gentle woodland creatures—from ostriches ($249) to crocodiles ($319).

4. Softbank BB Samurai iPhone cases
$1,000

Softbank BB is bringing the aesthetic appeal of traditional Japanese lacquerware to your iPhone. These five cases commemorate five famous samurai from Japan’s storied history—(from left to right) conquerer Oda Nobunaga; one-eyed warlord Date Masamune; tactician and “Dragon of Echigo,” Uesagi Kenshin; famed lover Naoe Kanetsugu and triumphant underdog Yukimura Sanada. The cases were created in collaboration with 350-year-old lacquerware company Zohiko and each design comes with a different cloth pouch.

3. Louis Vuitton iPhone cases
up to $1,120

Louis Vuitton is now offering four different flavors of iPhone case: Monogram Canvas, Taiga Leather, Epi Leather and Alligator Skin. Everyone knows adding the LV logo to something makes it practically priceless. But these prices range from $225 for the Monogram Canvas case to $1120 for the Alligator Skin case. Unfortunately, these costly cases commit the cardinal sin of covering the phone’s screen.

2. Diamond iPhone Case
$20,000
If you think buying a case worth fifty times the phone it carries makes perfect sense, then this is the case for you. With its 42 VVS1 diamonds (3.5 carats), it’s the most bling for your buck. That’s only $5,714 per carat. Great deal, huh?

1. GnG “Golden Delicious”
$100,000+
What is the most expensive iPhone case in the world? This extravagant case is the culmination of twelve months of development. The case features a 1mm subshell made with 140 grams of 18k gold, a carbon fiber inlay and about 200 diamonds. The outer frame features another 400 diamonds in the logo, which may be customized. As a customizable luxury item, however, prices may vary widely based on the materials needed.

The iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS are still the most desirable touch screen handsets available and despite all their competition the iPhone is still seen as the ‘must have’ phone. If you’ve already got one, then you’re going to want to keep it safe from knocks, drops and scrapes. A case is the best way to do this, but with such a wide range of cases, skins, crystal cases and silicone cases available choosing the right one can be quite tough, so I’ve been through all of the cases that we sell and here are our top 10 cases for the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS.

1. Piel Frama Case for iPhone 3G & 3GS

This case is easily our most popular Leather Case for the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. It is hand made from premium leather and designed specifically for the iPhone. Piel Frama also produce a Windscreen holder that can hold your iPhone securely in the car without having to remove it from the case.

2. iPhone 3GS Cleaning Sleeve

This is a universal carry pouch that has been designed specifically for touchscreen devices. It has a soft microfibre lining that cleans away smudges and fingerprints every time you put your iPhone in or take it out. Your headphone socket remains accessible so you can still listen to your music while its in the pouch. The Phone Cleaning Sleeve is available in Pink, Black, Purple and Brown. The design of the Pouch is plain on one side and chequered on the other.

3. Alu-Leather Case for iPhone 3G & iPhone 3GS

Alu-Leather cases are made from high quality leather and aircraft grade aluminium to provide a tough case that looks great. The case is specifically made for the Apple iPhone and has cut outs on the back for the camera. The fold down cover on the case has space for 2 bank cards, and has an inner layer of aluminium to protect your screen against impact and crush damage. No other leather case can offer this much protection for your screen.

4. iPhone 3GS & iPhone 3G Orbit Flex Case by Krusell

Krusell make some great cases, and the Orbit Flex range is one of their most popular. They are designed specifically for touchscreen phones and allow quick and easy access to your phone with out adding any unneccesary bulk. They have a soft touch lining that helps keep your screen clean while its in the case. All Krusell cases work with the Multidapt range of clips and mounts so you can find the right mounting option for your phone.

5. SwitchEasy Capsule Rebel Case for iPhone 3GS & iPhone 3G

The SwitchEasy Rebel Case is available in a range of colours and consists of 2 parts, a tough silicon skin to prevent scratches and a polycarbonate ‘exoskeleton’ that protects your phone agains knocks and scrapes. Included with each of the Rebel cases are 2 screen protectors, a stand that supports your phone in landscape mode for watching videos, and adapter for the Apple Universal Dock that lets you sync & charge without removing the case, a rubber dock connector cover and a cleaning cloth. The Rebel Case was highly recommended in a recent review by iLounge.

6. Bugatti Leather Case for iPhone 3G & 3GS

Bugatti make a range of stylish leather pouches, most of them are universal and will work with most phones. This one though is made specifically for the iPhone. It’s a strong, rigid leather case that you slide your phone into. The top of the case remains open and cut outs on the sides make it easy to grip your phone and remove it. The Bugatti logo is embossed on the rear of the cover, so showing off your designer case won’t be a problem. The case doesn’t cover the screen though, so if you want to protect it, you’ll need to invest in an iPhone 3G screen protector or an InvisibleSHIELD.

7. InvisibleSHIELD for iPhone 3G & 3GS

Technically this isn’t a case but it’s not just a Screen Protector either. Not only does the tough protective film cover the screen of the iPhone, it also covers the back. Installation takes a little bit longer than a normal screen protector, but the end result is well worth it. It covers almost all of your phone and will withstand the toughest of scrapes. The InvisibleSHIELD has a matte finish with a non slip feel to it. It is great at repelling fingerprints and reducing reflections and most importantly doesn’t affect the sensitivity of the touch screen. As the InvisibleShield doesn’t add any extra bulk to the iPhone, you can use in in conjuction with most iPhone Cases and Skins.

8. iPhone 3G & 3GS FlexiShield Skins

The back cover and chrome bezel of your iPhone might start to scratch or get damaged if they’re not looked after. FlexiShield Skins for the iPhone are thicker and tougher than standard Silicone Cases and will certainly give your iPhone more bounce if you drop it! It has a non slip feel to it and covers all of the back of the handset, leaving the camera free for you to take your photos. It doesn’t cover the screen though, so you’ll need to invest in an iPhone 3G screen protector if you want to prevent your screen from getting scratched.

9. OtterBox Defender for iPhone 3G

One of the new features of the iPhone 3GS was a built in Compass, great if you enjoy outdoors activities such as camping, hiking etc. If you do enjoy these kinds of activities and want to take your iPhone with you, then you’ll need a case that will keep your phone protected in some pretty harsh environments, and that’s exactly what the OtterBox cases do. They are a triple layered case that will withstand serious knocks. They consist of a clear membrane to protect your screen, a high impact polycarbonate shell that wraps around the iPhone, and surrounding this is a strong silicone skin that absorbs bumps and shocks. This is one of the toughest cases available for the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS.

10. iPhone 3G ToughGuard Shells

ToughGuard Shells are similar to Crystal Cases, but they are much more robust. Rather than being made from clear plastic, they are made from a more flexible, energy absorbing polycarbonate. This means that the case is unlikely to break or shatter if you drop your phone and will divert impact damage away from your iPhone. ToughGuard Shells don’t cover the screen, so I’d recommend using an iPhone 3G screen protector with it. These shells are a secure fit to your phone and are more suited to people who want to put a case on their phone and leave it on permanently.

OtterBox has always been one of my favorite case manufacturers. I use their Defender Series case for my iPhone 3GS religiously. There’s no denying the Defender Series is a bulky case. While it provides an unparalleled level of protection for your device it also increases the overall size of your phone substantially.
I realize the Defender series isn’t for everyone and OtterBox does as well. For this reason the company has just recently released a new slimmer case, under their new Commuter line.

The Commuter case provides the iPhone 3GS with three levels of protection. First is the crystal clear screen shield OtterBox includes, along with a cleaning cloth and installation card.
Second, is the thin silicone which wraps around the entire device. It includes a built in dock connector cover, headset port cover, covered sleep/awake button and volume rocker and cut out for the vibrate switch.

Finally, there’s the one-piece polycarbonate shell which you place over the silicone skin.

Once all three layers are installed you’re left with a decent amount of protection for your device. The silicone corners are left opened which serves to draw impact away from your device in the event of a fall.

The silicone layer of the Commuter case is available in only black and the case comes with one black polycarbonate shell. However you can accessorize your Commuter case with the addition of color packs. Each pack includes three different colored shells which work with the black silicone skin.
There is a generous cutout for the camera lens on the back of the case and an even bigger one for the Apple logo as well. Unfortunately this leaves the Apple logo completely exposed. It would have been nice if OtterBox included a circular screen protector to place over the Apple logo.

As an avid iPhone™ user, you exemplify the definition of cutting-edge, but the cool façade will quickly fade with a scratched or dented iPhone.
Introducing two new case lines from OtterBox for the Apple® iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS: the Commuter™ and Commuter™ TL Series. Fusing rugged elements from the Defender™ Series line and sleek characteristics from the Impact™ Series, the Commuter and Commuter TL offer the best of both worlds.

“These new cases combine the most innovative features from previous lines to give customers style and protection,” Curt Richardson said, founder and CEO of OtterBox. “The Commuter Series is an inverse design of the Defender; the hard plastic is now on the outside of the case with protective silicone on the inside. This new design slims-down the size and changes the look and feel of the case.”

Both case lines were custom designed to highlight the true beauty of the iPhone in three slender, yet sturdy layers*:

First, a self-adhering screen cover protects from scratches (touch screen remains completely functional).
Second, a silicone skin wraps over the device to protect corners from bump and shock. Dust intrusion is reduced with the use of silicone plugs over audio port and dock connector.
Finally, a smooth one-piece, custom molded polycarbonate shell hugs tightly around the silicone allowing the case to slide easily into a pocket or purse.

The Piel Frama executive leather case is simply stunning, the iPhone slides into the soft-leather-lined interior remarkably easily, without being too tight but with complete security. Although the phone cannot be docked while in the case, it is a moment’s job to slide it out into nakedness. You can, of course, attach the sync cable to the phone while in the case; it’s just that the leather prevents seating in the iPhone dock. The leather frame around the screen is pretty unobtrusive (unlike in the case of some cheaper designs I’ve seen in the Apple Store) and doesn’t hinder the fingers when typing. Just occasionally I have found a little difficulty in selecting text to the far left, but you soon get the knack.
Unlike similar Sena cases I looked at in the Apple Store last week, the Piel Frama protects the corners of the phone. With the Sena and other designs I could imagine damaged corners if the phone fell on a hard surface. What’s the point of having a case if the corners, the most vulnerable bits, are exposed? An unexpected bonus (not by design, I feel sure) is that the phone in the case stands upright on a table—either in portrait or landscape mode. In both modes the case flap acts as a hinge to keep the phone level without slipping over (as shown in the photograph above). It is thus ideal for watching videos (something that I am doing more and more often). You can even adjust the viewing angle easily in portrait mode or, in landscape, by putting a piece of folded paper under the edge of the flap.
The flap on my model uses magnets for closure. There is an alternative design with a press-stud flap, but this adds bulk and needs an extra action to close. The magnets (two of them) work well and I would recommend this configuration for general use. Incidentally, the flap folds back neatly so it doesn’t get in the way of typing or phone answering.
Inside the case are three compartments for credit cards or other odds and ends, plus a small cleaning cloth in a leather enclosure. A hole on the back of the case allows the supplied belt clip to be attached. I don’t like this arrangement and prefer to keep the phone in my pocket. If you don’t want to fix the clip there is a small plastic plug to fill the hole. I forgot to mention in my earlier piece that these cases come in a variety of very attractive colours–including red, lime green, powder blue and tan. There are also customised designs to special order. My feminine side loves these colours but the remaining dregs of testosterone forced me to tick the black box.
If you are hooked on the colours, do bear one factor in mind. The leather frame on the black case blends into the colour of the iPhone screen so it isn’t very noticeable. If you have a contrasting colour the frame will be emphasised. You might like this or you might hate it. It’s a small point, but worth mentioning. All the Piel Frama cases come in a sturdy box which makes them ideal gift material. And there’s an extra goodie in the form of a small, pocketable spray for cleaning the screen. This did not work for me and I was about to fire off an angry email to the long-suffering Estefania Lopez when I read the small print: “Fill it with tap water, it’s the best cleaning agent for screens”. Previously I’ve bought special sprays at eye-watering prices and I now wonder if they were all filled with water. Sure enough, Eau de Thames in London does a sterling job. If you are super fastidious, fill the thing with Perrier.
The Piel Frama iPhone case costs €70 (£60 or $99) but this includes international next-day shipping. On my bill the case was listed as €49.34 plus €11 shipping and €9.65 value added tax. This doesn’t look unreasonable to me. Lesser leather cases in the Apple Store in Regent’s Street sell for £45 (€53).

Most iPhone users have their device in a case of some sort. Those cases tend to be made from plastic or silicone and all of them look pretty much the same. If you are after a case that looks different and comes from renewable and beautiful materials Vers has the case for you. The company has announced new handcrafted wood cases for the iPhone that are made from walnut, cherry, and bamboo wood. The company claims that the cases are the most environmentally thoughtful on the market.
The case has an oval cut out on the front and back that lets the Apple symbol and the clock be seen with the phone in the case. The cases sell for $39.95. The only issue I can see is that there is now cutout for the button you need to press to wake the iPhone to activate the clock.

The second of five SENA cases waiting patiently in line for the iPhone Addicts review treatment is the SENA MagnetFlipper. If the name didn’t give you a clue then it’s a magnet-secured flip case for the iPhone 3G.
The MagnetFlipper is one of my favorite cases from SENA, and probably my most favorite case over all. It’s well designed, secures the iPhone better than most other cases and flips down so you don’t have to worry about maneuvering the flap around a headphone jack or folding it behind the case when talking on the phone. The sample we were sent is in a fetching Croco Tan, an imitation crocodile skin style which I’ll readily admit to finding quite attractive and classy. This is the case that a millionaire would probably have their iPhone in. The Magnet Flipper sets itself aside from ever other case I have covered thus far by having a second, popper clasped flap that secures the iPhone 3G perfectly into the case. This extra flap is doubly necessary because the main flap of the case does not itself serve this purpose. Having the iPhone secured on the top also makes it very easy to unclasp and slide out the phone without opening up the case. It’s even possible, although a little tricky, to remove the iPhone from the case without removing the case from your pocket. Very handy if you’re an avid “naked” iPhone user but want that extra protection when you’re stuffing it into your pocket. The flap is secured with two magnets which squeeze in along the lop-sided cut out that has to provide access to the ear-speaker, light sensor and proximity sensor. I Highly Recommend this case to anyone looking for a premier leather style iPhone case.
Griffin makes quite a few different types of iPhone 3G cases, giving us lots of choice and diversity. They have sport cases, silicon cases, utility cases, and the Elan Form Chrome. The latter e is a shiny leather/polycarbonate hybrid case that’ll make your iPhone shine.

This case is made up of a thin layer of a thin leather on the outside, while the inside is a hard, glossy black polycarbonate shell. It comes apart at the bottom, allowing you to slide your iPhone 3G up into it. Like pretty much all cases, all the ports you need to get at are accessible without removing the case. Since the bottom part of the case can slide off, you can dock your phone without removing the whole thing, a welcome feature. I’m coming to see the appeal of this more and more after testing out different cases. Taking a whole case off to put the iPhone in any form of dock can be annoying. This simplifies things quite a bit. As far as sliding the iPhone in, it is a nice snug fit and you don’t have to push too hard. I hate applying a lot of pressure to get into a case. Not an issue here. Griffin also sends you a cleaning cloth and stick-on screen protector with the case.

The feature that stands out about this case most is in the name: Chrome! All around the edge on the front face, around the camera hole, dock connector, volume buttons, and headphone jack and sleep button, chrome dominates. The coolest looking part is when you’re looking at the screen. The chrome all around really makes it look expensive.

The hard, thin leather on the back is a nice feature. It would probably be a lot more resistant to tearing than a softer, thicker leather. Overall though, it feels very similar to a polycarbonate case. This case is a little bit more expensive than other polycarbonate cases, I’m assuming because of the chrome and leather. So if you’re willing to spend a little more for looks and a better feel, this case is a good option.
TIP: The Griffin Elan Chrome case may seem a little loose and cheap on the iphone, and the bottom piece may not lock tight enough. If your case fits like this, you can put the cleaning cloth in between the iphone and the back of the case. This will secure the iphone giving it a more snug fit. As for the bottom being too loose, use a piece of double stick scotch tape and stick it on the lip of the bottom piece then slide the case together. This will give the case a very secure fit.
